The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me because the LORD has annointed Me to preach good news to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted; to proclaim freedom to the captives and the opening of the prisons to those who are captive; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD and the day of vengance of our God; to comfort all those who mourn; to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness!

The LORD GOD, and His Spirit, hath sent Me!

The LORD GOD, and His Spirit, hath sent Me! This passage from Isaiah 48:16 it is clear that the Son of God, Jesus, is speaking about being sent by the Father and the Holy Spirit. This passage from the writings of Isaiah in verse 12 shows the Son refering to himself as the first and the last (Revelation 1:17) and the creator of heaven and earth (Colossians 1:17).

Jesus, the Son of God, is the "sent one" from God. In the Gospel of John alone, Jesus says, the Father has "sent Me" 32 times, and talks about being "sent" a total of 39 times just in this one gospel. Just take a read through all Jesus says about Himself being sent by the Father God.

"For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him" (John 3:17).

"My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to accomplish His work" (John 4:34).

"For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, in order that all my honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him" (John 5:22-23).

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life" (John 5:24).

"I can do nothing on My own initiative. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, because I do not seek My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me" (John 5:30).

"But the witness which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given Me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of Me, that the Father has sent Me" (John 5:36).

"And the Father who sent Me, He has borne witness of Me. You have neither heard His voice at any time, nor seen His form" (John 5:37).

"And you do not have His word abiding in you, for you do not believe Him who He sent" (John 5:38).

"This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent" (John 6:29).

"For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me" (John 6:38).

"And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day" (John 6:39-40).

"No one can come to Me, unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day" (John 6:44).

"As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also shall live because of Me" (John 6:57).

"My teaching is not Mine, but His who sent Me" (John 7:16).

"He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who is seeking the glory of the One who sent Him, He is true, and there is no unrighteousness in Him" (John 7:18).

"You both know Me and know where I am from; and I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me is true, whom you do not know" (John 7:28).

"I know Him; because I am from Him, and He sent Me" (John 7:29).

"For a little while longer I am with you, then I go to Him who sent Me" (John 7:33).

"But even if I do judge, My judgment is true; for I am not alone in it, but I and He who sent Me" (John 8:16).

"I am He who bears witness of Myself, and the Father who sent Me bears witness of Me" (John 8:18).

"I have many things to speak and to judge concerning you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I speak to the world" (John 8:26).

"And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him" (John 8:29).

"If God were your Father, you would love Me; for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me" (John 8:42).

"We must work the works of Him who sent Me, as long as it is day; night is coming, when no man can work" (John 9:4).

"Do you say of Him, who the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'? (John 10:36).

""Father, I thank Thee that Thou heardest Me. And I knew that Thou hearest Me always; but because of the people standing around I said it, that they may believe that Thou didst send Me" (John 11:41-42).

"He who believes in Me does not believe in Me, but in Him who sent Me" (John 12:44).

"And he who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me" (John 12:45).

"For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me commandment, what to say, and what to speak" (John 12:49).

"Truly, truly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me" (John 13:20).

"He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father's who sent Me" (John 14:24).

"But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me" (John 15:21).

"But now I am going to Him who sent Me; and none of you asks Me, 'Where are You going?'" (John 16:5).

"As Thou didst sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world" (John 17:18).

"Truly, truly, I say to you, a slave is not greater than his master; neither is one who is sent greater than the One who sent him" (John 13:16).

"That they may all be one even as Thou, Father, art in Me, and I in Thee, that they also may be in Us; that the world may believe that Thou didst send Me" (John 17:21).

"I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, that the world may know that Thou didst send Me, and didst love them, even as Thou didst love Me" (John 17:23).

"O righteous Father, although the world has not known Thee, yet I have known Thee; and these have known that Thou didst send Me; and I have made Thy name known to them, and will make it known; that the love wherewith Thou didst love Me may be in them, and I in them" (John 17:25-26).

"Peace be with you; as the Father has sent Me, I also send you" (John 20:21).

We are now sent! May this be our commissioning verse...

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to captives, and freedom to prisoners; to proclaim the favorable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to grant to those who mourn in Zion, giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified" (Isaiah 61:1-3).
